Welcome to Dumaguete

Sup, Welcome to Dumaguete, the City of Gentle People! If you’re here for just the weekend, I want to show you what makes our town special. We love it here, and we’re happy you came to visit.

One place you shouldn’t miss is Sans Rival Bistro. It’s where we locals go for the best silvanas and cakes. Grab a seat, enjoy a slice, and look out at Rizal Boulevard. It’s a simple pleasure, but trust me, it’s one of the best ways to spend your afternoon. Take a walk along the boulevard when the sun starts to set—the view is beautiful, and it’s a great place to just relax and people-watch.

If you’re looking for a place to stay, there’s plenty to choose from. You’ll find small, cozy inns or even more upscale resorts if that’s your thing. Everything is close by, so you don’t have to go far to see what Dumaguete has to offer. We locals know that whether you’re staying by the beach or in the heart of town, you’ll be comfy.

The Bell Tower is a must-see. It’s old and full of history, and I pass by it almost every day. Just next to it is the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria. It’s our main church, and it’s been here for centuries. Even if you’re not religious, it’s worth stepping inside just to see how grand it is.

For some local flavor, don’t miss Jo’s Chicken Inato. It’s a famous spot here in Dumaguete where you can try their delicious chicken inasal. The place has a relaxed vibe, perfect for enjoying a hearty meal after a day of exploring. It’s one of those places that feels like home to us locals.

Dumaguete also has plenty of coffee shops, so if you’re into coffee, you’ll find lots of options. From local favorites to well-known chains like Starbucks, there’s a place for every coffee lover. Sit down with a cup, take in the laid-back atmosphere, and watch the city go by. It’s a great way to unwind and feel the heartbeat of Dumaguete.

If you’ve got a bit more time, maybe take a trip to Apo Island or go up to Casaroro Falls. We’re pretty used to these spots, but we still know they’re special. Enjoy the food, the sights, and the simple life we love here in Dumaguete.
